Surgical Tool Executive Chosen To Lead Center for Medical Innovation

A fourth-generation University of Utah graduate and industry pioneer in the development of microtools used in brain surgery will be the new executive director of the Center for Medical Innovation (CMI) at U of U Health.

保罗, whose great-grandfather was in the first class of U of U students in 1850, graduated from the U in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree in English. He originally intended to study 法律 but soon found himself immersed in sales training at Procter & 赌博.

保罗 will also arrange seminars and courses in the Schools of Medicine and 业务 and the Colleges of Engineering 和法律, as part of an overall curriculum meant to promote the collaborations needed to create successful medical devices. He plans to teach several 业务 and 工程 courses himself.

保罗 lives in Salt Lake City with his wife, Jana (nursing, class of 1987). 他们四个孩子中的两个, 乔什和莎拉, have graduated from the U; Jacob graduates this year, and Alexander returns to the U this fall after serving a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints mission in Oklahoma City.
